Snake, but with way too many features.
What started as a joke ("Snake, but with way too many features") actually shipped all of them.
Classic wraparound, deadly Walls, growing Maze obstacles, 2-rival Battle, 60s Timed attack, one-life Hardcore, local 2-player Coop, a seeded Daily Challenge, and the Roguelite.
Food Frenzy, Gold Rush, Blackout, Mirror Mode, a Hunter snake and Earthquakes strike at random. Hardcore adds meteors, tremors and speed surges. In Daily, everyone gets the same events.
Every 8 foods, pick 1 of 3 perks: Second Wind, Magnet Field, Gourmet, Midas Touch, Lucky Charm, Phase Dash and more. Every run builds differently.
Ghost, Magnet, Shield, Slow-mo, 2x Score, Freeze, Revive and instant Teleport — plus teleport portal pairs, bombs, and a cursed food that reverses your controls.
Up to 4 players. Host on your local network, or share a 5-character room code and play over the internet through a relay. Smooth, lag-friendly playout and reconnects if you drop.
Plug in an Xbox or PlayStation pad, with stick sensitivity and vibration in Settings. Menus also work with the mouse. The snake itself stays on keys or pad.
Open, Pillars, Cross, Arena, Volcano, Everest, Desert and Glacier. The themed maps have their own obstacle shapes, tint, and ambient particles (embers, snow, sand, sparkle).
Earn coins every run, clear daily quests, build a play streak, and spend it all on cosmetic trail effects — including an animated Rainbow trail — and skins.
Live progress bars (not just checkmarks), unlockable skins, and a real-time “New Personal Best” banner mid-run.
Every mode remembers your best run and replays it as a ghost, showing live whether you're ahead or behind. Plus an arcade top-10 with 3-letter initials.
Sprite art for the snake, food and power-ups, a scalable display from 144p to 4K, and a color-blind mode with its own icons.
Checks for new versions on launch and offers to download and install them for you — no need to come back to this page every time.
Every mode reuses the same core systems — combos, power-ups, achievements — with its own twist.
Grab the build for your OS above. Nothing to install — Windows/Linux are a single portable file, macOS is a zipped .app.
Windows: double-click; SmartScreen may warn since it's unsigned — click "More info" → "Run anyway."
macOS: unzip, drag MegaSnake.app into your Applications folder (needed for auto-updates), then right-click it → Open (first time only) to bypass Gatekeeper.
Linux: chmod +x MegaSnake-Linux && ./MegaSnake-Linux
Arrow keys, WASD or a gamepad to move. New? Open How to Play from the main menu for every food and power-up. Color-blind mode is in Settings.
Open Multiplayer → Host LAN Game and have them join with the IP on your screen, or host Online and send them the 5-character room code. Up to 4 players.
Note: progress (coins, achievements, leaderboard) saves locally to a .megasnake folder in your user profile. Multiplayer games save to the host's save file only.
